Grown Men. In Public. Posted at 12:18 - 24 Oct 2004
Steve Punt and Hugh Dennis are no longer restricted to the confines of radio. Their mixture of high-brow and downright silly humour takes to the stage after a highly succeddful preview tour. EoM says you'd be mad to miss their first tour since 1994's Milky Milky. On a slightly less exciting note, during the same week, Hugh Dennis resumes his role as Piers in BBC1's My Hero. EoM says, quite simply, why?
Laurence and Gus: Men in Love Posted at 12:17 - 24 Oct 2004
Laurence Howarth and Gus Brown bring their hit Edinburgh show to London and Manchester for your perusal soon. By no means groundbreaking, but gentle and funny, it's worth going to see.
Perrier winners Posted at 18:27 - 30 Aug 2004
The winners of the 2004 Perrier Award have been announced: Jackson's Way won the main award (snatching it from under the nose of porcelain-faced Chris Addison) and Will Hodgson scooped the Newcomer award for his show, The Passion of the Hodgson. Emporium of Mirth have been mumbling to ourselves about it being a shame that Alun Cochrane was overlooked... but at least he got a nomination. To find out more, go here.
The Award Nominated Colin & Fergus Posted at 18:22 - 30 Aug 2004
Firm Emporium favorites Colin and Fergus have been nominated for the second annual "Dubble" Award at this year's Edinburgh Fringe.
The award celebrates the Double Act and the prize will go to the act deemed most conversant in the art of making two people work better than one.

UPDATE: The award winners were Gamarjobat, Japanese magic artists. Hmm.

Kath & Kim on the Boi Boi Cee! Posted at 17:51 - 20 Aug 2004
Emporium of Mirth's favorite Sitcom is finally coming to terrestrial UK Telly!
BBC2 have annouced that they have bought the rights to screen Kath and Kim, the "floi on the wall" sitcom about a mother and daughter living in suburban Australia.
It's been compared to the Royle Family and oddly, to the Office but though Kath and Kim is filmed as a documentary it's quite blatant that it's as silly as things come. It's brillaintly observed and expertly crafted to induce tears even upon repeat viewings.
Stay tuned to EOM over the coming weeks to find out the transmission date. We're as excited as you should be!

Steve Coogan's latest vehicle 'Around the World in Eighty Days' premiered in London's glitzy (yet rainy) Leicester Square yesterday evening.
As well as comedy deity Coogan, the guest list read like a who's who of comedy, with Jimmy Carr and David Walliams and Stephen Fry rubbing shoulders with... well, each other!

BBC Radio 4 is dramatising the last three books in the "trilogy" of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy; Life, the Universe and Everything; So Long and Thanks for all the Fish and Mostly Harmless. Fans will be happy to see that, where possible, the original cast have been used (Simon Jones, Geoffery McGivern, Susan Sheridan, Mark Wing-Davey and Stephen Moore). Writer Douglas Adams himself is even featured as the part of Agrajag, which he recorded a few years prior to his death. Forget the long awaited film version... radio has always been Hitchhiker's home, and it will be once more from 21st September, 2004.

The Mighty Boosh Update Details are finally being confirmed for Noel fielding and Julian Barratt's first Booshy TV outing (not counting 1997's Unnatural acts, it wasn't on proper telly anyway!)
The series begins airing on BBC3 on May 18th at 10:30 and is rumored to be heading BBC2wards in autumn. This time around there is no intrusive laughter track, giving it a feel more akin to the Radio series than 2003's Pilot Tundra.
The Biggest change since the Pilot episode is that Dixon Bainbridge, formerly played by Garth Marenghi's Darkplace co-Creator Richard Ayoade, is now being played by his Darkplace Co-Star Matt Berry. The Zoo Staffing system has now also changed, with Dixon Bainbrdge now the owner of the Zoo and Bob Fossil second in command. Our sources say the series is being edited as we speak and there are even more surprises in store, including a boxing kangaroo and a lovesick panda. Mrs Gideon also makes an appearence, seinding Howard Moon's head a-spinning. Thanks to Emma Page and Louise Andrew for info and pictures.
