Emporium of MirthMarcus Brigstoke
Corduroy clad Marcus Brigstocke has recently become a daddy, but don’t think that means he’s mellowed, oh no. His act is still as scathing and edgy as it ever was, just don’t expect him to dance in his suit, fire regulations and all that.
Marcus’ semi-topical act flows seamlessly from Essex to Iraq and back again in a manner that is both observational and surreal, and unfailingly entertaining. Marcus’ delivery, though often deadpan is engaging and allows him to pull off what could be seen as a callous remark and turn it on it’s head with the admission “I don’t want to appear unsympathetic, but I am, so that’s how I come across”. This is a performer with the style and charm to turn water into Evian, you’re not sure why it tastes better, but it’s so cold and well presented you fail to notice it’s bitter edge.
