Emporium of Mirth

Lisa Egan

It would have been difficult to review a friend had her act been appalling. As it is, I can legitimately gush about her without feeling guilty that my compliments are in any way forced.

Lisa is a disabled lesbian from Essex, and she makes no bones about it. While her act centres on her disability, she doesn't expect sympathy. Neither does she use her five minute slot to self-righteously preach a message of overlooked independence to her able-bodied audience; instead, she does what most comedians with so-called "gimmicks" forget completely. She is quite simply funny.

So, on both a personal and a professional note, I urge readers to go and see her.
