Kombat Opera

Kombat Opera really shouldn’t work… But it does. Singing silly songs in an opera style is always going to be funny, and it kinda makes you wonder why nobody’s done it before.

Richard Thomas is a fantastic musician and his sidekick Hayley is clearly a fantastic sport, using her opera singing powers for crimes against the medium (CF. “Outreach”, a song with the lyrics: “We are bringing opera to a wider audience / So they can hate it as well”).

Opera may seem like an easy target, but as this particular act of ridicule is undertaken by two people whose careers have heavily relied on the form, it seems a lot more real, informed and in a lot of ways, affectionate.

You’ll laugh, but you probably shouldn’t
