Howard Read (with Little Howard)

On Paper, the idea for Big Howard and Little Howard sounds like it would be funny for approximately 5.8 minutes. But, as paper is inanimate and therefore incapable of laughter, this is, thankfully not the case because not only are big Howard and Little Howard utterly magical, but they also put on a fantastic show.

Even after all these years, Little Howard has remained six years old (a fact even he is aware of), and as such, he retains all the innocence needed to help Big Howard get away with Blue Bloody Murder.

With technology such a big part of the show, part of the fun is to see what will happen when it all goes wrong. Lucklily, when such a thing happens, Big Howard's (although 2 dimentional) natural flair for performing wins out, making the whole show a creshendo as the crowd are rooting for big Howard to get it right, and when he does the result is not only a releif, but more than delivers on the promises of the anticipation.

More importantly, the concept is damn clever, the self reverencing honesty bringing the audience in further than expected and, despite the fact that Little Howard even knows himself that he's not real, getting really rather attatched to the little tyke.
