Emporium of MirthRobin Ince's Book Club Volume 5
Like a bad penny, Robin Ince is back with a vengance, and some of the same peoplr, and since our last "official" visit, has set some traditions in stone.
Sid Little, thankfully, is still a feature complete with the essential phillip glass accompanyment, only now he's been joined by Grass Whisperer Don Estelle.
As well as the "Literature" the Performers are still of an equally high standard, with Martin white and his accordion adding a welcome accompanyment to other regular performers such as the fabulous Josie Long and The Trap.
The only problem on the horizon is robin's increasingly worrying habit of booking too many acts. so many, in fact, that one day his runnign joke about going on till 2am will become harsh reality. Though, If you're anything like us, the nightbus will oprove a far better option than missing a single moment of the club.
After it's 5 months, the Book club has settles in as a fixture that should be marked on everybody's calanders, and with it's regular cast, regular audience and regular reading material, the intimate feel means that the evenings are anything *but* regular.
Frankly, if you're anywhere else on the last wednesday of the month, you should be ashamed of yourself.
