Emporium of Mirth

Comedy Cafe

Now, you'd be forgiven for not knowing where Comedy Cafe is, being, as it is, situated on the only sleepy road in London's trendy Hoxton Area.

Then again, you might not, for lurking in that dingy sreet, Comedy Cafe is (quite literally) a glowing beacon of comedy activity.

From the second you walk through the brightly coloured door, the staff (and compare) greet you like an old, cherished friend, arranging you into their complex, carefully calculated seating plan in order to make sure you have a top night.

It's no surprise that a number of people have reccomended we check this place out, as its use of regular compares (Martin Davis, Julia Morris) and its fondness for certain acts (three of which come under the umbrella of "Emporium of Mirth Favorite") mean that the crowd are cared for better than at any other club I've attended on the London Circuit... which is a lot.

Even the delicious smelling food is served by waiters, who aproach you all evening to make sure you've everything you need for an evening of mirth, while the compare and manager mingle between sets with any punter who'll listen.

The only downsides that I can possibly find are that a) it's bright yellow (though the gaudy decor does extend to the most spectacular club loos i've ever witnessed) and b) Lime and soda costs £1.20.
